Terms of Service
Effective: 21 June 2025 · Last updated: 21 June 2025
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the rentie platform (a venture by VBH Studios), operated by VBH Studios ("we", "us", "our") at rentie.shop. By creating an account or making a booking, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. Eligibility
- You must be 18 years of age or older to use rentie.
- You must hold a valid driving licence issued by a competent authority in India for the category of vehicle you intend to rent.
- By using the platform, you confirm that you meet these requirements. We reserve the right to cancel and refund any booking if ineligibility is discovered.
2. Rental Liability
- Once a vehicle is handed over to you by the rental shop, you are fully responsible for the vehicle for the entire rental period.
- This includes responsibility for traffic violations, challan fines, towing charges, and any legal penalties incurred during your rental period.
- In the event of an accident, theft, or seizure, you must notify the rental shop and rentie support (support.rentie.shop@gmail.com) immediately.
- rentie acts as a booking intermediary only. The rental contract for the vehicle is between you and the rental shop. rentie is not a party to that contract and is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from the use of the vehicle.
3. Driving Licence Requirement
- A valid, original driving licence must be presented at the rental shop at the time of vehicle pickup.
- If you cannot produce a valid driving licence at pickup, the rental shop is entitled to cancel the booking and refuse handover of the vehicle.
- In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund to your original payment method within 5–7 working days. The rental shop is not liable for any inconvenience caused.
- Learner's permits (LMV-NT) are not accepted for motorcycles or scooters above 50cc.
4. Damage Policy
- You are liable for any damage to the vehicle beyond normal wear and tear that occurs during your rental period.
- "Normal wear and tear" means minor surface scratches that do not affect the vehicle's function, minor tyre tread wear, and similar routine deterioration from ordinary use.
- Damage beyond normal wear includes: dents, broken mirrors, cracked panels, tyre punctures, engine damage, electrical damage, and frame damage.
- The rental shop will assess damage at vehicle return. Damage charges are determined by the rental shop, not by rentie. If you dispute a damage claim, contact support.rentie.shop@gmail.com within 24 hours of vehicle return.
- rentie may, at its discretion, assist in dispute resolution between you and the rental shop, but the final decision rests with the rental shop for damages that occurred during the rental period.
5. Cancellation & Refunds
Cancellation policies vary by rental shop. The applicable policy is displayed on the booking confirmation screen and in your booking details.
- Standard refund timeline: Approved refunds are processed within 5–7 working days to your original payment method (UPI, card, net banking).
- Razorpay processing: Refunds are initiated by us within 24 hours of approval. Bank processing time (2–5 working days) is outside our control.
- No-show cancellation: If you do not appear for your booking and do not contact the shop, the rental shop's cancellation policy governs whether a refund is issued.
- Shop-initiated cancellation: If a rental shop cancels your booking (vehicle unavailable, shop closed), you will receive a full refund regardless of the shop's standard cancellation policy.
6. Prohibited Use
The following uses of rented vehicles are strictly prohibited:
- Interstate travel: Riding outside the state of Uttarakhand is prohibited without prior written approval from the rental shop. Violations may result in vehicle seizure, loss of refund rights, and platform ban.
- Subletting: You may not rent, sublet, lend, or transfer the vehicle to any third party during the rental period.
- Racing or stunt riding: Vehicles must not be used for racing, stunt riding, off-road driving, or any illegal activity.
- Drunk driving: Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate platform termination.
- Carrying excess passengers: Do not carry more passengers than the vehicle is rated for. Two-wheelers are rated for one rider plus one pillion only.
Violation of these prohibitions releases the rental shop and rentie from all liability for damages, injuries, or legal consequences arising from such use.
7. Intellectual Property
- The "rentie" name, wordmark, logo, pixel scooter mascot, platform code, and all content on rentie.shop are owned by VBH Studios and are protected under applicable Indian intellectual property law.
- You may not reproduce, distribute, display, or create derivative works from any rentie IP without prior written permission from VBH Studios.
- Rental shop names, logos, and photographs displayed on the platform are owned by the respective shops and are used with their permission.
- DMCA / IP infringement notices: If you believe your intellectual property has been infringed on the rentie platform, send a notice to support.rentie.shop@gmail.com with full details of the claimed infringement.
8. Reviews & User Content
- By submitting a review, you grant rentie a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on the platform.
- Reviews must be truthful, based on your actual experience, and must not contain defamatory, abusive, or fraudulent content.
- We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these standards without prior notice.
9. Limitation of Liability
- rentie is a technology platform that connects customers with independent rental shops. We do not own or operate the vehicles listed.
- To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, VAYAM's total liability to you for any claim arising from platform use is limited to the amount you paid for the specific booking giving rise to the claim.
- We are not liable for: vehicle mechanical failures, shop closures, route disruptions, natural disasters, or any indirect or consequential losses.
- Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
- These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
- Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of rentie shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation by contacting support.rentie.shop@gmail.com.
- If not resolved within 30 days, disputes shall be referred to binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with the seat of arbitration in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The language of arbitration is English.
- Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief from a competent court.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when our services change or when the law requires it. Material changes will be notified via WhatsApp or email at least 7 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
