Booking & riding
How do I rent a bike or scooty on Rentie?
Open the live listings, pick a shop and model, choose your pickup time and hours, verify with an email OTP, and pay the shop's booking advance (UPI/card via Razorpay). You get a QR digital ticket; show it at the shop, do the joint inspection, and ride. The whole thing takes about two minutes.
How much does bike rental cost in Dehradun?
Every shop on Rentie publishes its own rate card, so prices vary by shop and model. As a feel for the market: 125cc scooters typically start around ₹80/hour or ₹700/day, and a Royal Enfield around ₹1,200/day. The exact fare for your dates always shows before you pay. See the Prices page for how pricing works.
Can I extend my ride after picking up?
Yes. Contact the shop before your end time using the number on your booking ticket, and extend at the published rate. Asking early keeps it painless; discovering it late makes it a late-return charge.
Can I take the vehicle to Mussoorie or Rishikesh?
Absolutely. Day trips are what most riders rent for, and Mussoorie (~33 km), Rishikesh (~43 km) and Haridwar (~55 km) are all inside Uttarakhand. One hard rule: inter-state travel is not allowed; rental vehicles must stay within Uttarakhand. Read the safety guidelines for hill and season rules first.
Is the helmet really free?
Yes. An ISI-marked helmet is included with every rental, and you can ask the shop for a second for your pillion (Uttarakhand law requires helmets on both riders).
Money
What is the booking advance?
The first part of your fare, paid up front to reserve the vehicle. It is not a separate deposit. Each shop sets its own advance amount, shown before you pay, and at return you pay the fare minus the advance. Details: Refund & Cancellation policy.
Is there a security deposit?
Not the hostage kind common elsewhere. The recorded booking advance secures the booking; shops may keep a photocopy of your ID during the ride, but nothing beyond the metered fare gets charged.
What if I cancel?
The platform rule: cancel more than 2 hours before pickup and your advance can be refunded per the shop's terms; cancel within 2 hours of pickup and it is non-refundable. Shops can set more generous windows, and the terms on your booking screen are the ones that apply. Shop-side failures (they cancel, no vehicle at pickup) are always a full refund, back to your original payment method in 5 to 7 business days.
Is fuel included?
No. Fuel is on you, as with every rental in the market. Vehicles hand over with enough to reach a pump; a 125cc scooter does about 45–50 km/l, so a Mussoorie round trip costs roughly ₹150 in petrol.
Are there hidden charges?
None. Fares are computed by the platform from the shop's published rate card, the same rates walk-ins pay. You pay for fuel you use, damage you cause (assessed jointly at return), and your own traffic challans. That's the complete list.
Documents & eligibility
What documents do I need?
A valid driving licence (gearless AWG class is fine for automatic scooters; MCWG for geared bikes) plus one photo ID, Aadhaar or college ID. Full detail: Documents Required.
Can I rent without a driving licence?
No, it's illegal to ride without one, and any shop offering it is putting you at serious legal and financial risk. Rentie partner shops verify licences at pickup, every time.
Do international visitors need anything special?
A valid foreign licence for the vehicle class, ideally an International Driving Permit, and a passport as photo ID. Everything else works the same.
Can two of us share the riding?
Only the booked rider, whose licence was verified, may ride. If you want to split riding, make two bookings or swap the booking to your friend before pickup.
Trust & the platform
What does 'verified shop' mean?
The shop was vetted before listing: real business, real fleet, commitment to serviced vehicles and honoring booked fares. Reviews from completed rides keep them honest afterwards, see how reviews work.
How do I know the vehicle is safe?
Shops service and condition-log vehicles between rentals, and you do a joint inspection at pickup, brakes, tyres, lights, existing marks, so nothing is taken on faith. The 60-second checklist shows exactly what to check.
What's Rentie's relationship with the shops?
Rentie is the marketplace and toolkit; shops own the vehicles, set their own prices, and define their own rental and cancellation terms. The platform computes every fare from the shop's published rate card, so what you see at booking is what the shop actually charges.
Something went wrong mid-ride. Who do I contact?
The shop first: its phone number is on your booking ticket and its shop page. For anything the shop can't fix, email support.rentie.shop@gmail.com with your booking reference.
Still stuck?
Email support.rentie.shop@gmail.com with your booking reference; see the contact page for what to include. Mid-ride, the shop's number on your booking ticket is always the fastest help.
