Plain-language rules

The rules of the ride

Everything you agree to when you book, written for humans. Five minutes here saves an argument later.

1 · Who can rent

2 · Pickup, the joint inspection

Before you ride out, you and the shop staff walk around the vehicle together: brakes, tyres, lights, horn, mirrors, fuel level, existing scratches. Photograph anything notable. The condition you both agree on at handover is the condition you're accountable to at return, this single habit prevents almost every damage dispute. (Full checklist: the 60-second checklist.)

3 · During the ride

4 · Returns & extensions

Return by your booked end time to the pickup shop. Need longer? Message the shop before the end time, extensions at the published rate are routine when asked early, and awkward when discovered late. Late returns are billed from the same rate card as everything else.

5 · Damage & breakdowns

If anything goes wrong, stop somewhere safe and call the shop right away on the number in your booking ticket. Don't ride a damaged vehicle. Damage you caused is assessed jointly with the shop at return, against the condition agreed at pickup. Mechanical failures that aren't rider-caused are on the shop. Everything is easier because the pickup inspection happened.

6 · Fuel

Fuel is not included, vehicles are handed over with enough to reach a pump. Returning with a similar level to what you took is fair practice. Budget math: 125cc scooters give roughly 45–50 km/l; see the Prices page for trip examples.

7 · Shop-specific terms

Each shop sets its own cancellation window and advance handling, shown to you before payment and in your ticket. The platform-wide rules for money are in the Refund & Cancellation policy; the platform-wide legal terms are in the Terms & Conditions.

Rental policy FAQs

Can my friend ride the vehicle I booked?

No, only the booked rider, whose licence was verified, may ride. If your plans change, cancel and let your friend make their own booking; it takes two minutes and keeps everyone insured by the rules.

What happens if I return late?

Late time is billed from the shop's published rate card, the same slabs shown on the Prices page. If you know you'll be late, message the shop on WhatsApp BEFORE your end time; extensions are usually easy when asked early.

What if the vehicle breaks down and it isn't my fault?

Stop somewhere safe and call the shop immediately on the number in your booking ticket. Mechanical failures that are not rider-caused are the shop's responsibility. You will not be billed for the tow or the fault, and shops will typically swap the vehicle where possible.

Can I take the vehicle outside Uttarakhand?

No. Inter-state travel is not allowed on rental vehicles booked through Rentie. You can roam freely within Uttarakhand, which covers every classic ride from Mussoorie and Dhanaulti to Rishikesh, Haridwar and Chakrata. Crossing the state line voids your rental terms and exposes you to permit trouble at checkposts.

Who pays traffic challans?

The rider. Any challan issued during your rental window is yours, including ones that arrive electronically later and get matched to your ride time.
